Women’s Volleyball Drops Opening Match, Aims For Third Place Finish

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The #9 Richard Bland College Women's Volleyball team moves to 31-7 after dropping their opening game of the NJCAA Division II National Tournament to the #8 Illinois Central Cougars. The Statesmen battled in four sets, but fell short 1-3, recording the following set scores; 10-25, 25-20, 11-25, and 26-28.

 

Sarah Heath led the way on attack with nine kills, followed by Leilani Goggin and Mikayla Mitchell with six each. Heath also tallied seven digs, one assist, and one service ace. Goggin added eight digs, and Mitchell one block for Richard Bland. Alexis Scipione recorded 24 assists, five digs, one kill, and one service ace. Aubrey Hyndshaw was credited with 16 digs in the loss.

 

With the loss, the #9 Statesmen await their opponent for their first match in the consolation bracket. Richard Bland will take the court at 1pm CT/2pm ET tomorrow, November 16th.
