No. 11 RICHARD BLAND THRASH WAKE TECH

RALEIGH, N.C – The No. 11 Richard Bland Statesmen men's basketball team thrashed Wake Tech Community College, 94-66 in the Eagles Gymnasium, Tuesday evening.

The Statesmen improve to 5-0 on the season while the Eagles drop to 1-3 on the young season.

Although in foul trouble early to start the game, Tavon Mealy (Richmond, VA) managed to lead offensively with 18 points while grabbing five rebounds, following Avery Ugba (Silver Springs, MD) 16 points and nine rebounds while Reginald Moses (Henrico, VA) added 13 points.

The Statesmen maintained a good lead going into halftime, 42-36.

RBC ignited a 19-0 run to start the second half as the Eagles had no answer for the Statesmen offensively and defensively the entire game.

RBC shot 58.5 –percent (38-65) from the field and 90.0 –percent (9-10) from the free-throw line. The Statesmen outrebounded the Eagles, 39-26 and earned 17 points off of second chance points.

The Statesmen return to action on Saturday, Nov. 22nd when they host the Indians from USC Salkehatchie. Tip-off is slated for 3 p.m.
