No. 11 RICHARD BLAND TO PREPARE FOR VANCE-GRANVILLE TUESDAY

PETERSBURG, Va. – The No. 11 Richard Bland Statesmen men's basketball team will travel to Henderson, N.C., for its fifth road game of the season when they take on conference foe Vance-Granville Vanguards Tuesday, Nov. 25 at 7 p.m., in Aycock Recreation Center. Admission is free to the public.

The Statesmen (6-0) are looking to finish off their road trip of the 2014 year perfect for the second straight year.

RBC played host to the University of South Carolina Salkehatchie on Saturday in Statesman Hall. Paced by 19 points from sophomore forward Tavon Mealy (Richmond, VA), including season-high 20 rebounds, RBC held off the Indians after leading by as many as 18 points during the first half.

Richard Bland has benefited not only from Mealy's production offensively but from others such as Reginald Moses (Henrico, VA) and Avery Ugba (Silver Springs, MD) who accounts for the balance scoring attacks through the first six games of the season.

Located in Henderson, N.C., Vance-Granville is 1-6 on the season after falling to Patrick Henry Community College on Nov. 18, 79-66. The Vanguards will compete against the University of Mount Olive Junior Varsity before Tuesday's match-up against the Statesmen.

This is the second conference game for the Statesmen as they are 1-0 in league play while the Vanguards are 0-4 against conference opponents on the year.
